Elon Musk talks about parenting his newborn

CEO and founder of an aerospace company, Elon Musk and his partner Grimes welcomed their first child in May this year. Since then, the new parents have been busy tending to their little bundle of joy and even (up to a certain extent) clearing up confusion about the name of their newborn.

Musk, who is known to be a super workaholic, was recently quizzed about how he has been spending time with his little one during the past couple of months and balancing parenthood and work.

In an interview, the 49-year-old spoke at length about his experience in a rather controversial manner, adding that there's not much for him to do for his baby, X Æ A-Xii (pronounced X Ash Twelve) right now, adding that it is his partner, Grimes, who does a major chunk of parenting right now.

“Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now. When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.”

The American entrepreneur, who has six children, also called parenting a wonderful experience, and termed babies as 'eating and pooping machines'.

Adding that he is waiting for the two-month-old to get a bit older, Elon also talked about the many ways he bonds with his other five children, who he shares with his ex-wife, Justine Musk:

" If I have a trip for Tesla to China, for example, I’ll bring the kids with me and we’ll go see the Great Wall or we take the bullet train from Beijing to Xian and see the Terracotta Warriors.”

Interestingly, Musk's view on not having "much to-do" around his baby boy has sparked a debate on social media with many accusing him of doing a disservice to equal parenting.

Apart from his new baby, Elon also talked about having built an innovative 'online school' for his older kids, which worked out rather well for him. He also advocated parenthood, suggesting people to welcome more babies into the world.

“I think babies are super cool and really people need to have more babies because, it sounds obvious, but if people don’t have enough babies, humanity will disappear”.

Baby fever much?

Musk and Grimes, who 'gifted' 'their baby boy with a special name had also vouched to practise gender-neutral parenting with their son, without exposing the baby to stereotypes associated with masculinity or femininity. This parenting style has gained a lot of takers amongst celebrities and many urban dwellers in recent years as well.
